A Time to be ThankfulWelcome to November! As we come into the season of giving, I want to sincerely thank our amazing staff and volunteers who made Harvest Fest so wonderful. The Parent Association helped by providing pumpkins for the patch this year, and some amazing parents volunteered to help us pick up and deliver them to the festival. It was delightful to see so many members of the community celebrating the season of harvest. This month we are excited to wrap up our SEED campaign and look forward to using the many gifts we have received to help appreciate our teachers and provide more social and educational opportunities for our parent community throughout the year. I am thankful to all of you for supporting our efforts to grow our community. Please, as always, reach out to [email protected] if you have questions or concerns or want to get more involved. I hope you all have a wonderful November and I look forward to sharing the upcoming holiday season with you. Sincerely, Susan Smith President, MCH Parent Association SEED Update Thank you to all who donated to the 2021 MCH PA SEED campaign! Together, we raised $32,700! While we did not quite meet our goal, every gift helps us replenish our largely exhausted funds so we may continue our mission of supporting the MCH community. And even though the campaign is over, it’s never too late to donate! Your gift helps pay for short-term tuition assistance, sponsored field trips, education specialists, classroom enrichment materials, staff professional development and MCH community development. If you did not give this year, we would appreciate it if you would complete this survey so that we may improve our communication in future campaigns. PA Annual Meeting Recap Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for the Parent Association annual meeting on November 8th. The Parent Association Treasurer, Jeremy Syme, provided a financial update that included this year's budget and board priorities. If you were unable to attend the meeting and would like to learn more about what was discussed, please contact us at [email protected]. Upcoming Parent Meetups, In-Person and Virtual “Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” – Brian Solis Our next in-person Parent Meetup will be next Friday, November 19th, after drop-off (approximately 9:30 am) at the Beaver Lake Park Pavilion (25101 SE 24th Street, Sammamish). Weather permitting, we’ll take a walk from the pavilion around the forested park. If we have severe rain, we can huddle around coffee/tea protected by the pavilion (BYO beverage) or on the steps of the Lodge. Please note, the gathering spot is by the lake or the north side of the park, not the ball fields. For more information on Beaver Lake Park, visit the official website. And please join us virtually! Based on parent interest and collaboration, we are hosting an ongoing Book/Podcast Circle via Zoom. Read the book, listen to an interview, or just log on. Join us to meet other MCH parents and engage in meaningful conversations about topics that explore joy, belonging, adventure, parenting, and so much more! Here is what we are reading/listening to in the coming months: December 14, 2021, 7:30 pm We'll be discussing the non-fiction book "Digital Minimalism" by Cal Newport. You can find a podcast interview with Newport here. In January 2022, we'll be reading the fiction title "The House in the Cerulean Sea" by T.J. Klune. The meeting date and time are TBD and we hope to send a link to a podcast interview with the author ahead of time. In February 2022, we'll be reading "Shame-Proof Parenting" by Mercedes Samudio, LCSW. The meeting date, time, and podcast are TBD. We hope you all can join us! These events are hosted by the Parent Association and not affiliated with the school. Please wear a mask to all in-person events. Harvest Fest Success! Support the Parent Association While You Shop!
