Board Recruiting
Every spring we begin the search for other parents who have a passion for enriching the greater MCH community. We are hoping that you might be interested in joining us next year as a board member.
What do we do?
We have four main areas of focus that drive our activities: sponsorship, extracurricular, enrichment and development. These activities include sponsoring student tuition for families in need; bringing musicians, artist, experts and firefighters to campus; field trips; funding playgrounds; assisting staff with continuing education, staff appreciation week, and creating the yearbook among many other things.
What does it mean to be a board member?
First and foremost we are a working board. While we do deal with larger strategic issues, we spend the bulk of our time making great things happen for the community. This usually means a minimum of 4 hours per month. If you take on ownership of larger projects that time commitment will be greater, but at a minimum we need your commitment once a month for 2 hours. Our meetings are focused and productive because all our members embrace the importance of their active participation.
What influence does the board have?
We are not the same as a public school board. MCH is a privately owned business and as a board we work with the school to support their mission, not dictate it. This is a tremendously rewarding mission, but if you are looking for more control over the school we aren’t the right vehicle for that. That said, if you have a great idea and want an opportunity to work to make it happen, we definitely want to talk to you.
Why do we do this?
We love this school and we want to support it. We love watching the reaction of parents, staff and children when we make a difference. We get to do that a lot.
