For the first time at MCH, you will have the chance to share your culture and traditions with our community. To celebrate the rich diversity we have at our beloved school, the PA will be organizing an International Day on Sunday March 3rd, from 2:30 to 4:30pm PT ! We will have booths with food, and more, as well as performances. We’re imagining the feeling of traveling around the world, by moving from one booth to the next, exploring the rich assortment of food, music, and customs each one showcases.
What does volunteering for a booth mean?
We will provide a table and a sign for your country. You are welcome to showcase your culture in any way you choose. This can include food (small finger food or snacks is best), drinks, interesting facts on a cardboard poster or trifold, games, traditional clothing and more.
No two booths would look the same and that is the whole point. You can team up with another family from school from the same culture , or have your own table.
This can be as small or elaborate as you wish it to be. The above are just suggestions, but feel free to make it your own.
What does volunteering for a performance mean?
Your child(ren) can perform a song, dance, a music part (played on an instrument) or even a short story that represents your family tradition. It can be an individual performance, or a group performance where several kids from the same culture team up. This will be 3 to 5 minutes long.
We will need an audio file of the music you chose, if applicable. All the performances will be scheduled and you will know your time slot before the event. Your child(ren) will be called up to the stage when the time for their performance arrives.
We will also have activities for the kids – feel free to suggest options in the form below.
