2022 Board of Directors Elections
Each year the Montessori Children's House Parent Association holds an election for our Board of Directors. It’s a small thing, but incredibly important to our legal responsibilities as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our bylaws dictate that 25% of our membership must participate in the election for it to be valid. Our membership is made up of all parents and guardians of currently enrolled children. This year we must get 109 voters.
Watch your email for your ballot. If you have not received it by the end of Wednesday, June 1, 2022 please contact us. This election runs from 7:30 PM on 05/31/2022 until 11:30 PM on 6/09/2022.
The board recommends a slate of directors for election. It is not a competitive election and it is recommended that all members on the slate are elected. The year we have eight outstanding candidates. Their profiles can be viewed below. Write-in candidates are allowed.

Daniel SteinbergI am a native of Philadelphia, though I spent my formative years on a small farm just outside of Sacramento. After moving back to the East Coast, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design and my master’s in Information Systems from Drexel University. Coming out of school, I started a small web and graphic design agency and more recently joined an online education company as the head of UI/UX design. My wife and I moved to Seattle in 2016 to slow down a bit and get closer to nature and it’s been incredible. We now call Sammamish home with our four-year-old son Cameron and 12-year-young cockapoo Pamela Beasley, and love exploring the Pacific Northwest, trying new food, and taking on DIY projects around the house. We’re thrilled to be joining MCH and are looking forward to connecting with other families while giving back to the community that we’re so lucky to be a part of.

Jessica LinI'm a California native, growing up in Southern California and then living in the San Francisco Bay Area for 18 years after that. For my undergrad, I studied Chinese and economics at UC Berkeley. For my master's, I studied criminology at UC Irvine. I worked at Google for 18 years as a program manager and left at the beginning of 2022 to run my own real estate investing business. My husband, Ryan, and I moved to Washington at the beginning of 2017, and have loved being here ever since. We enjoy camping, hiking, and traveling. We have 2 kids at MCH. Vivienne (4) is currently in Nootka Rose and Philip (1) is in Kinnikinnick. Both kids started when they were about 7 months old and have thrived and grown so beautifully here. Our whole family absolutely loves the school and all the staff that make MCH the wonderful place it is. With a little more free time on my hands, I'm looking forward to being a more active member of the parent community.

John CramerI was born and raised in ski town USA. No, really. I was born in Aspen, CO and raised in Telluride, CO. This was all before visa commercials and famous people sightseeing. But growing up there gave me a love of the outdoors, which brought me to the PNW. I’ve lived in the Seattle area twice, with my most recent tenure starting in 2010. During my first Seattle residency, I worked construction while putting myself through Shoreline Community College prior to heading to WSU for my B.S. in chemistry. Graduate school took me to British Columbia and Portland, OR, followed by a post-doctoral and scientific fellowships at NIH in the MD/DC region. During the great recession, I met my wife while we were both ski instructors in Telluride, CO. Upon returning to the Seattle area, I’ve spent my time volunteering at the animal shelter, supporting my wife while she navigates the corporate world, and managing our family as its grown to 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 kids. Our children will be starting MCH summer of 2022, but Kai (4) has been part of Montessori life in Seattle, and Anya (2) has been part time at a Reggio Emilia program. We look forward to being a part of the MCH Family.

Jonathan NgI am from sunny Singapore, a country that only has one season (glorious summer) all year round! I count myself as a double "dawg" having graduated with an Industrial Engineering bachelor's degree and an MBA from the University of Washington where I was lucky to meet my wife (Joanne). Through our academic years, we fell in love with Seattle with the nearby Pacific Northwest hiking trails and so decided to transplant ourselves here to start a new life. Currently, we are approaching our fifth year in WA, where our son, James (who is only 13 months old), will be joining the MCH family in September'22. In our spare time, we enjoy visiting parks, hiking picturesque trails and exploring the various restaurants the city has to offer. I am currently at Microsoft and my wife runs her own startup managing real estate properties in WA. While James hasn't had his Day One in MCH, I believe strongly in contributing to the MCH community and would love to have the privilege to do so.

Sulafa TalhaI grew up in the United Arab Emirates, between Dubai and Abu-Dhabi. My higher education was an adventure in Africa, I have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from University of Khartoum and master’s degree in Information and Network Security from University of Khartoum as well. I nominated as the college ambassador to represent my college in academic forms in Egypt and Italy. After graduation I worked as a teaching assistant and a researcher and I have an IEEE publication (https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/6634023).
My husband, our son and daughter, and I moved to the US in 2018, and since then we are part of MCH family. I always wandered why in the traditional education boys’ academic achievement is not as good as girls’, and what is an alternative education program that works for them. I found the answer: Montessori education, and for us being a nature lover family, MCH was the perfect place for our kids. Siddig (6, Horsetail), Sarah (4, Madrona) and Noor (2, Paper Birch) are happy MCH kids, their smiles at the end of the day fills me with joy. In my free time I enjoy Chopin music and fashion. I appreciate MCH’s vision and mission, and I am eager to contribute. Election Term: 2 Year |
Tiff StonerAs a first-generation immigrant, my family moved from Taiwan to Southern California. I grew up in Arcadia, California, then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to pursue a BS in Economics and Political Science at the University of Utah. Since graduation, I have worked in the financial industry, primarily in financial planning. Currently, I am working for a Seattle-based Wealth Management firm. My husband and I fell in love with Sounders soccer and the beautiful Pacific Northwest, so we moved out here ten years ago. Our family enjoys hiking, berry picking, and eating out at restaurants. My older daughter, Ally, is in Snowberry, and my younger one, Harper, will be attending the toddler program this upcoming school year. Our family loves the value of Montessori teaching and has seen our daughter build self-confidence and independence this past year. I appreciate the care and support that the staff and teachers have provided, especially during these past two challenging years. It will be an honor and pleasure to support the MCH community by serving on the Parent Association board.
