Name:
Janine Peters
Classroom or program:
Infant and Toddler Community
Budget request (please provide breakdown if possible):
$605 (tax and shipping included)
Purpose of budget request/how will the budget be used?:
The Pump Works system will primarily be used by the three Toddler classrooms, with opportunities for the Infant room to use it as well. This hands-on water pump encourages STEM learning as children explore cause and effect, water flow, pressure, and mechanical movement through real, physical experimentation. It supports Montessori principles by offering open-ended, purposeful exploration that fosters concentration, coordination, and problem-solving skills. The Pump Works will be a valuable addition to our outdoor environment (especially during the warmer months) promoting curiosity, collaboration, and joyful discovery through water play.
If available, a link to source/materials/event/program, etc.:
https://kodokids.com/products/pump-works
Which programs will be included/impacted:
All three Toddler classrooms and the Infant room. The Pump Works system can be shared among programs and used throughout the year, especially during the summer months when water play is part of our outdoor work.
What is the timeline for spending the budget? Are there any deadlines we should be aware of?
We would like to purchase the Pump Works system by the end of spring 2026 to have it ready for outdoor water play as the weather warms up.
Anything else you think we should know?
We have explored the option of purchasing separate water pump components and building a similar system ourselves; however, the cost would be nearly the same while requiring significantly more time and effort to assemble. The Pump Works provides a durable, ready-to-use design that will offer immediate and lasting benefit to the children.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Will you only consider requests that fall into these timelines/deadlines?
Nope! We're happy to consider requests outside of the timeline we provided for time sensitive requests, particularly for those that will benefit the whole school community. Just note that in the form so that we can review it as a one-off request.
Why was my request denied?
It depends. Perhaps we need more information to better understand the value (we will request as needed). We are generally (but not always) looking to fund activities and items that have broader reach outside of one classroom, so consider how the request can be extended. We also want to balance between programs; ensuring that the funds are somewhat equally spread between I/T, EC, and Elementary across the year.
If my request was denied, can I try again another time?
Yes! We do weigh each request against the others in the group, so it might be possible to get funding in the future. When we reply to you with an answer, we will do our best to communicate to you if we think future funding will be possible.
